Detroit Lake

We went camping with my family this weekend to Detroit Lake, east of Salem. We had a great time out there. It got a little cold at night ("little" being a HUGE understatement) but we all survived well! We left on Friday, and Piper and I got to ride in the RV with my parents. Almost my whole family came... My Dad & Step-Mom, Tyler & his friend Scott, Austin, Tacie & Brett, and they brought their dog Albe who is only a couple weeks younger than Piper. Piper loved playing with Albe, she would pick up his bone and then count to three and throw it for him. The two of them entertained each other for quite some time. Jason also towed my dad's boat down to the camp. The boys went wakeboarding Sat morning, and then Piper and I went out with them Sat afternoon. That was when "the incident" happened. We had driven down the lake about as far away from camp as possible, and then down an inlet, when the boat BROKE DOWN! We had to paddle our way out of the inlet (with ONE oar and three wakeboards, not easy to wield) and accross the lake so that Jason and Tyler could swim to shore and begin their nearly vertical climb to the road. They hitchhiked back to camp to get the truck and trailer so we could get the boat out of the water. The rest of us (Dad, Austin, Scott, Piper and me) had to figure out what we were going to do to get back to the boat ramp (which was not close). And all this was going on just before dinner time, and I had NO food for Piper. Luckily we saw a boat just up near a bend in the lake and my dad whistled his unhumanly load whistle to get their attention. They came over and graciously towed us the boat ramp. They were the ONLY other boat we saw on the entire lake. So we all got safely back to camp just about 6:30pm, when we left at about 4:30pm and only used the boat for maybe half and hour, and Piper didn't even get too cranky! The rest of the trip went great. Piper (and the rest of us) got utterly filthy and had a great time! Here are some of the pics of Piper's first camping trip...

Beaver Believer

H-O-L-Y C-R-A-P!!!! Last night was incredible. For those of you who don't know Oregon State played the #1 nationally ranked USC Trojans last night at Reser Stadium. AND WE WON!!!!!!! USC was favored to win by 26 points, but Oregon State won 27 to 21. We were ahead 21 to 0 at half time. Then the Trojans came out and scored two touchdowns in the second half. The Beavers came back to score another touchdown (and missed the after-point attempt... REALLY?) leaving us vulnerable for USC to score 2 more touchdowns to win the game. But our beavers held them off, so they only scored one more touchdown with less than 3 minutes left in the game. We then recovered the onside kick that the Trojans attempted and WON THE FREAKING GAME!!! Here is a youtube video of the students rushing the field after the game. (it's not that great, but hey, it works)

This finally lets me resolve my guilt of making Jason miss the game in 2006 where we beat USC (again unexpected win) because I was sick due to my pregnancy!!

So You Think You Can Dance

Last night I went to the So You Think You Can Dance live tour at the Rose Garden in Portland. Becca went with me (I didn't feel like forcing Jason to come with me) and we had a great time. I geek out pretty bad about the show, and I would say that Becca does too, so we had a great time being there and seeing all our favorite dances again! :) Here are some pictures of the dancers and their routines...

Jameson Park - Round 2

Yesterday Kasey and Becca and I decided to go out to Jameson Park again and let the kids play in the water. It was such a great day for it too, the water was cool but not cold, it felt really great. And the kids had a blast. This time there weren't a whole lot of kids out there, so the little ones didn't get knocked around like last time. Piper was totally freaking out, she was getting so excited playing in the water, it was really cute. Here is a little collage of some pics that we took at the park.

Also we took Piper in for her 18 month appointment last week. Everything was great, she got a few shots, but she handled them pretty well. The exciting thing was that this time the nurse gave us a little hospital gown for Piper to wear during her appointment. It was so cute we had to take pictures of it... so here they are.

Oregon State Fair

Yesterday Jason, Piper and I went to the Oregon State Fair in Salem, OR with my mom and Ed. The weather was nice & sunny at times, and rainy at times (dang Oregon, REALLY?!) but we got through it and had a great day! We got to see lots of animals - including Pygmy Goats - and Jason and I went on a few carnival rides. I can't remember the last time I was on a carnival ride, but it was awesome! We also got to go into the petting zoo. Piper was able to get up close and personal with goats, pigs, deer, chickens, ducks, sheep and a wallaby... yes that is correct, the Oregon State Fair had two wallabies in the children's petting zoo (and they are surprisingly soft). Here are some of the pictures from the fair.

Then later that day we went to Isaiah's 2nd Birthday party! Happy Birthday Isaiah! The two were being so cute together I just had to add a picture. Piper also got to ride on Kasey's horse, and she seemed to enjoy it very much! :) Jason said that he hardly had to hold on to her, she had such a good grip on the saddle. She is growing up so fast! :)
