Easter Fun

We went over to Ken and Kim's house this Easter holiday for the annual Easter Egg Hunt! We had lunch over there, which was great. Sarah's husband made this special glaze for the ham that was cooked, and it was delicious! Sarah was there with Issac (her son) and Carie & Chris were there with Braden and Cailyn. And of course Kim's mother was there as well. Corey was the only one who couldn't make it this year. The kids got Easter baskets, and each one had a shining star animal in it. I had not really heard of these before, but when you buy one your child gets to name a real star after themselves, so that should be pretty cool. For the egg hunt this year we thought that Piper would be able to pick up her own eggs, but it was not to be. When we got up on Easter morning I noticed that it was not very pretty outside, so I assumed that we would be doing the egg hunt indoors, and therefore I did not pack Piper's shoes. But as luck would have it Ken decided to hide the eggs outside - rain or shine! So again we carried Piper during the egg hunt, it was me this year, but next year I am deteremined that she will walk the hunt herself! :) At least she seemed to enjoy it, I gave her one of the eggs with quarters in it and she played with that thing all day long. Here are some pictures of her Easter dress (she changed into something much warmer for the hunt).

She's a Lady

My baby may like to be naked, but at least I am teaching her some manners. Your private parts should always remain private! (and YES, those are two different pics, not the same one reversed!)

First Birthday Party

We threw a birthday party for Piper on March 8th up at my dad's house. It was a blast, there was lots of family and some close friends that came to celebrate. Piper had a great time, with no shortage of people devoting all of their attention to her! :) These are some of the pictures that we got of the event. She did like her cake, and by the end of the night she completely passed out in the car. All in all it was a really great day full of love and laughter, which I know sounds a little dorky, but those are the kind of days that I would love to fill her life with! So thank you to all who attended, and all who wish they could have, you have all helped fill my daughter's life with love and joy.

Happy Birthday Piper!

It was 11pm on March 5th when Jason and I pulled into the parking garage at the Salmon Creek Hospital, we were there to have a baby. They let us in and showed us to our room, and then we began the process of checking in. The gave me an IV line and then let us get some sleep. At 5am we were woken up so the nurse could hook up my Pitocin drip, the baby needed some persuasion to come out. I was then hooked up to all of the wires and gadgets necessary to monitor both baby and myself. My labor was induced nicely, and I started feeling some heavy contractions, so naturally I asked for the nurse to call up the anesthesiologist, I wanted my epidural now. At 6:30am I was feeling no pain and loving it. My mother showed up around 7:30am and we all relaxed waiting for me to fully dilate. I was dilated to about 5cm around 9am, and then at about 10:30am my doctor came in to check on me again and I was completely dilated to 10cm. We were ready to bring this baby into the world. I began to push around 11am and that continued well until a little baby girl was delivered at 11:46am on March 6th, 2007. Piper Pearl Crain was 8lb 3oz and 19.5 inches tall with lots of dark hair and bright blue eyes. One year later I can still remember that day, the only difference is that now I have all of the memories in between. It has been an amazing year, like nothing I would have expected, and I wouldn't give it up for the world. I love you Piper and I am already so proud of you. Happy Birthday baby girl!
